Project scope and objective
The project aims to expand the Yacyretá hydropower by increasing renewable generation capacity and optimizing existing water flows to strengthen energy supply in Argentina and Paraguay, while avoiding the need for a new reservoir. Its scope includes the construction of a new plant at the Aña Cuá branch with 270 MW of installed capacity, along with associated civil works, transmission infrastructure, substations, interconnection systems, and environmental and social management measures.

Early disclosure
For projects with high environmental or social risk an Environmental and Social Strategy (ESS) is prepared early on during the project appraisal and prior to carrying out the environmental and social due diligence (ESDD).
