Project scope and objective

Founded in 1999 with offices in Panama and Costa Rica, Namu Travel Group has established itself as a leading travel in Central America. Positioning itself as a leader in the travel industry, Namu specializes in creating tailor-made programs and itineraries, with unique and enriching experiences for its clients, which mainly come from the United States and Europe, thus fostering a distinctive link with the region. The group has established close relationships with over a hundred providers, the majority of which are small boutique hotels, tour operators, and tourist carriers, many SMEs.

The transaction consists of the provision of a working capital loan for an amount of up to US$5 million, with the objective of directing funds towards these suppliers, through a program of advance purchases of hotel nights, tourism services, or transportation improving effectively the operating capital and cash availability of these service providers.

Environmental and social review

IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invest's Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above.
