Testing Game-based Learning
In Brazil, Mind Lab is using a game-based approach to complement traditional teaching methods, with the goal of improving students’ cognitive, emotional and social skills. IDB Invest extended a loan to the company because of it’s potential to help low-income students develop the critical-thinking skills they will need to rise out of poverty. In partnership with Mind Lab and the Instituto Ayrton Senna, IDB Invest designed and is implementing an experimental evaluation in 160 public schools with approximately 15,000 students, randomly assigning this type of learning approach to different schools to test the effectiveness of Mind Lab’s method.
Effective January 1, 2016, this operation is being managed by IDB Invest. For information disclosed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) before that date, please refer to the Projects section on the IDB website.
