Project scope and objective

Project Description: The project involves the expansion of Invertec Foods S.A. apple and capsicum (red and green bell peppers and jalapeños) dehydration facilities in Chile and the increase in the cultivation of apples required in the hydration process. The project will enable an increase in production capacity of dehydrated apples and capsicum by about 35%, from 2,593 to 3,488 tons. This will be achieved by 1) optimizing the preservation of raw materials by increasing the cold storage capacity, 2) incorporating additional stages into the drying process, 3) constructing a new warehouse for finished goods, 4) acquiring peeling equipment, 5) acquiring a sorting unit for fruit inspection to increase quality control, and 6) other investments in the plant to increase efficiency and product safety. The project also contemplates a 40% increase in the land available for apple cultivation from 176 has to 246 has. By expanding the process lines and by increasing the cold storage chambers for raw materials and finished products, the company will be able to produce throughout the year, rather than seasonally.
