Project scope and objective

Hidrocañete owns the Nuevo Imperial hydroelectric power plant, which has an installed capacity of 4 MW and is designed to generate up to 33 GWh of clean energy per year. The plant is located on the Nuevo Imperial irrigation channel, which is fed by waters of the Cañete River (approximately 170 km south of Lima). The power plant has been in commercial operation since April 2012.

The purpose of this IIC operation is to provide Hidrocañete long-term financing to refinance the debt it acquired to build and operate the hydroelectric power plant.

With this operation, the IIC will be supporting the development of small hydroelectric projects in Peru by providing long-term financing of up to 15 years. Run-of-river hydroelectric projects are a very low-cost source of energy.
