Project scope and objective

Project Description: The Project consists of a Purchase Facilities for the acquisition of collateralized real estate loan obligations ("Cedulas de Credito Imobiliario") (the "CCIs") fully hedged against foreign exchange risk, both for principal and interest, in the amount of US$25.0 million. The purpose of the project is to provide Brazilian Securities Companhia de Securitizacao, ("BS") access to a facility that will allow BS the capacity to acquire larger volumes of mortgages for their subsequent securitization. This will permit BS to further expand the market for rated mortgage-backed securities in the Brazilian capital markets, as a new long-term investment instrument for institutional investors. As with the existing project, BS will target mainly the middle to lower-income residential segment with average housing price of US$30,000.

Environmental and social review

IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invest's Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above.
