Le financement proposé à La Société du Rhum Barbancourt S.A. ("Barbancourt"), une entreprise familiale de cinquième génération et fabricant de rhum internationalement reconnue, Haïtien depuis 1862, consiste au suivant:

  • Un prêt de premier rang d'un montant maximum de US$2,500,000 qui financera : (a) un projet d'énergie solaire photovoltaïque qui fournira  de l'énergie pour les besoins en électricité sur site et remplacera les générateurs diesel existants ; et (b) une installation de réutilisation de bouteilles pour permettre à Barbancourt :(i) d'être plus rentable et réduire sa dépendance aux importations, et (ii) de réduire considérablement ses émissions de carbone.
  • Une facilité de crédit de garantie renouvelable et d'un montant maximum de US$2,500,000 pour financer les besoins en fonds de roulement de Barbancourt.

The proposed financing to La Société du Rhum Barbancourt S.A. (”Barbancourt”), a fifth generation family led company and award-winning rum maker in Haiti since 1862, consists of the following: 

  • A senior loan of up to US$2,500,000 that will finance: (a) a solar panel energy project that will generate energy for on premise electricity needs and replace existing diesel run generators; and  (b) a reuse bottles facility to enable Barbancourt to:  (i) be more cost efficient and reduce reliance on imports, and (ii) reduce its carbon emissions drastically.
  • An secured revolving credit facility of up to US$2,500,000 to finance Barbancourt´s working capital needs.

Environmental and social review

IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invest's Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above.
