Project scope and objective

The proposed transaction consists of an uncommitted regional Supply Chain Finance facility of up to US$100 million (the “Facility”) to support the working capital needs of Jabonería Wilson S.A. (“Jabonería Wilson” or the “Company”), a subsidiary of Alicorp S.A.A. (“Alicorp”), one of Latin America’s leading consumer goods groups. Alicorp will act as guarantor of the obligations under the Facility. Jabonería Wilson is one of Ecuador’s leading manufacturers of cleaning and personal care products, with more than eight decades of experience in the market. Under this structure, IDB Invest will purchase or discount accounts receivable arising from the sale of inputs and packaging materials by eligible suppliers to Jabonería Wilson.

The transaction seeks to strengthen the Company’s working capital management and supply chain efficiency, while improving its suppliers’ access to liquidity and short-term financing, the majority of which are local. Additionally, the transaction will contribute to strengthening commercial relationships throughout the supply chain and support the maintenance of formal employment within Ecuador’s domestic production chain.

Environmental and social review

IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invest's Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above.
