Sustainable Finance Status in the Banking Sector of Latin America and the Caribbean
This study offers a snapshot of the readiness of Latin American and Caribbean banks to finance the region's next phase of growth. Based on information gathered from 100 financial institutions in 21 countries, it analyzes the capabilities banks are building to manage risk, attract investment, develop new financial products, and respond to technological and market changes.
The findings show significant progress in key areas for competitiveness and private sector development, including the modernization of management practices, the expansion of specialized financial instruments, and a greater capacity to channel resources toward companies and projects with growth potential. The report also identifies the main challenges and opportunities for strengthening the role of banks as drivers of investment, productivity, and economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
