IDB Invest, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, provided a $10 million loan to International Health Services Argentina S.A. (IHSA), known in the market as Emergencias. The project will serve to promote the expansion projects of the company, serve a greater number of patients with improved quality and support them with preventative medicine.

The financing has a 6-year tenor and will allow Emergencias to increase the investment in medical equipment, improve its operational infrastructure, incorporate new technological equipment, implement data analysis processes and buy a medical plane. The objective is to increase access to health services through the use of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science, to create predictive models and obtain a better knowledge of the patient and the services needed by communities.

In countries like Argentina with a high demographic concentration in a few cities such as the city of Buenos Aires and its suburbs, providing quality health services in remote and difficult-to-access regions is a challenge. Incorporating innovation and technology helps develop systems for preventive medicine and the detection of diseases, while generating economic benefits.

Emergencias serves 9 million people in the country and has the ability to provide services in smaller populations (up to 2,000 inhabitants) characterized by low economic levels. With IDB Invest's support, it will also be able to incorporate long-distance transportation for patients with urgent needs, assist workers in extractive industries in remote locations, where access to health services is scarce or non-existent, and improve their transport capacity of children and adults with disabilities.
