IDB Invest Boosts Financing for Small Businesses in Argentina in Partnership with Banco Supervielle

• The operation aims to expand access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises and promote job creation.
WASHINGTON – IDB Invest announced a new transaction with Banco Supervielle S.A. to strengthen access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and stimulate job creation and investment in Argentina. The funds will enable Supervielle to expand its loan portfolio, promoting financial health and enhancing productive capacity.
The initiative includes a $50 million loan funded by IDB Invest; an additional $50 million loan from the JICA Trust Fund for the Development of Latin America and the Caribbean (TADAC); and approximately $79 million mobilized through the sale of participations to investors.
This operation will more effectively address the financing needs of SMEs in Argentina in response to business opportunities, particularly in strategic sectors such as agribusiness, renewable energy, and technology services. Additionally, the mobilization of resources with international financial institutions will strengthen the bank’s integration into global markets.
This transaction is a concrete example of IDB Invest’s new business model, “Originate to Share,” which emphasizes collaboration and co-financing with other institutions to mobilize private investment and optimize capital efficiency.
As part of the operation, IDB Invest will provide Supervielle with technical advisory services to strengthen its sustainability strategy and financial health. This advisory will include financial product analysis, training in sustainable finance, development of an internal taxonomy, portfolio analysis to identify climate-related projects, and the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs).
