The operation will strengthen businesses in key regions of the country that operate in sectors that rely heavily on physical assets, such as transportation, construction, and agribusiness.

WASHINGTON — IDB Invest has granted up to $12 million in financing to rentandes S.A.S., a company specializing in operating leases of physical assets, to expand access to machinery, equipment, and commercial fleets for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in key regions of Colombia.

Through this financing, which will be provided in Colombian pesos, rentandes will support economic growth. It will help businesses use more efficient assets, including industrial machinery and equipment, electric and hybrid vehicles, and Euro VI trucks. This will improve MSMEs’ operational reliability, reduce their operating costs, and help them accelerate their transition to more sustainable business models.

The financing is structured as a senior loan in local currency for up to $12 million, divided into a committed tranche of up to $8 million and an uncommitted tranche of up to $4 million, both to be repaid within six years. This structure gives rentandes initial resources for expanding its portfolio, along with flexibility to meet additional demand and  align the financing with the pace of investment and the useful life of the assets.

The project will enable MSMEs to access productive assets without making major initial investments. This arrangement preserves their liquidity and facilitates their growth and contribution to strengthening Colombia’s business ecosystem and developing its key productive sectors.
