BUENOS AIRES – IDB Invest will provide a $300 million loan to Banco Galicia to expand access to financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)and for sustainable projects in Argentina. This transaction aims to strengthen Banco Galicia’s credit portfolios and promote economic development in the country.

The loan structure includes a “A” tranche of $150 million financed by IDB Invest and a “B” tranche of $150 million to be financed by institutional investors and parallel loans. This operation aligns with local market efforts to revitalize private credit, especially for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, which represent 97% of Argentina’s businesses.

Additionally, IDB Invest provided technical advisory to Banco Galicia for redesigning its sustainable finance taxonomy and implementing an Environmental and Social Action Plan to strengthen environmental and social risk management in line with international standards.
