A pragmatic and deal-oriented banker with an extensive track record in originating, structuring, negotiating, closing and cross-selling transactions throughout the Latin American and Caribbean region, Michael Apel is Head of Financial Intermediaries for Caribbean Region (a.i). A U.S. national, Michael has carried out lending operations with SMEs and financial institutions complemented with extensive experience in providing non-financial products and services through international consulting work, advisory services, and technical assistance. Before IDB Invest, Michael worked at both Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand in international privatization activities, where he worked in projects throughout Asia and Latin America. Michael holds a B.A. in Literature from Carleton College and an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
