Marta is IDB Invest’s Corporate Governance Lead Officer, based in Washington D.C. She is a lawyer with 20 years of experience in corporate governance, corporate law and cross border transactions. She is responsible for integrating corporate governance factors within the investment process of IDB Invest, as well as for corporate engagement activities and advocacy work in 26 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining IDB Invest, she practiced law in Brazil and in the United States, having been partner of a major Brazilian firm for 10 years and having been recognized as a leading lawyer in leading legal rankings such as Chambers, Latin Lawyer and Legal 500. Marta served for two consecutive mandates in the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance, where she coordinated the creation of the Brazilian Corporate Governance Code. She also served in the audit committee and in the fiscal council of one of the largest Brazilian private pension companies. She has a law degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and a master degree in law and business from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management.
