Enrique Cañas is Head of the Financial Institutions Division of IDB Invest. The division is responsible for the origination and structuring of transactions with a broad range of financial intermediaries such as banks, mutual banks, credit cooperatives, financial and insurance companies, and microfinance institutions, among others. Before joining IDB Invest, Enrique was Managing Director of Transaction Advisory Services for Central America and the Caribbean at Ernst & Young (EY), based in Panama. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Boston University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from New York State University.
