This DEBrief summarizes the findings of a study conducted by IDB Invest together with BRK Ambiental, one of Brazil’s largest private water and sanitation providers, to estimate the effects of water and sanitation coverage on health outcomes in Brazil. The results show that increasing water and sewerage coverage leads to reduced hospitalizations and public healthcare expenditures for water-related diseases, including dengue.
