IDB Invest supports the Honduran Association of Banking Institutions (AHIBA) to strengthen sustainable banking

IDB Invest, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB), supports the Honduran Association of Banking Institutions (AHIBA) and its 15 member banks to launch a Sustainable Banking Initiative to identify resilience solutions to climate change and business opportunities associated with sustainable financing in the country.

The Sustainable Banking Initiative seeks to improve the social and environmental performance of the Honduran financial sector through the adoption of the best international social and environmental risk management practices.

Technical support will allow AHIBA members to identify and characterize investments in technologies, goods or services for adaptation to climate change and also to detect suppliers to reach them. In addition, facilitating elements and barriers to investment in adaptation solutions will be identified, and banks' capacities to take advantage of the business opportunities associated with climate change adaptation will be enhanced.

The 15 member banks of AHIBA are: Banco Atlántida, BAC Honduras, Banco Davivienda, Banco Ficensa, Banco Ficohsa, Banco Hondureño del Café, Banco de Honduras, Banco Lafise, Banco de Occidente, Banco del País, Banco Popular, Banco Promerica, Banrural, Banco de los Trabajadores and Banco Azteca Honduras.
